Build and Think – Architecture for Children in Fredensborg

For the second year in a row, we had the pleasure of welcoming 6th grade classes from Fredensborg School to a day of architecture from a child’s perspective at the Utzon Museum Fredensborg.

Once again this year, architect Julie Dufour was in charge of teaching and engaging the students in both Jørn Utzon’s iconic works and their own creative building processes.

Together, they delved into some of Utzon’s most famous buildings – including Bagsværd Church and the Sydney Opera House – and used them as inspiration for discussions, sketches and model building. This gave the pupils a vivid and sensory insight into what it means to think and work as an architect.

The Fredensborg Houses have long been a source of inspiration for both professionals and young budding architects, and we are delighted to be able to repeat this special educational programme. We are continuing to work on securing funding so that even more school classes will be able to enjoy the same opportunity in the future.

Keep an eye on our Instagram later in April, where we will be sharing photos and videos from the children’s visit.

Visit Utzon Museum Fredensborg – Thursdays from 13:00 to 16:00.
